O Paalanhaare-O The Divine Nurturer! You are beyond any attribution… December 25, 2008

O Paalanhaare
Film: Lagaan
Singers: Lata Mangeshkar, Udit Narayan, chorus

O paalanhaare, nirgun aur nyaare
O The Divine Nurturer! You are beyond any attribution of traits, You are beyond all
tumre bin humra kauno.n naahee.n
other than You, no one is ours
humri uljhan, suljhaao bhagvan
O God! please resolve our difficulty
tumhaee humka ho sa.mbhaale
only You are keeping us supported
humhaee humre rakhwaale
only You are our protector
tumre bin humra kauno.n naahee.n

other than You, no one is ours

cha.ndaa mein tumhaee to bhare ho chaa.ndanee
It is You who has filled light in the Moon
sooraj mein ujaala tumhaee se
the Sun glows owing to Your brightness
ye gagan, hai magan, tumhaee to deeye ho ee taare
this sky is delighted because it is You who has given these stars to it
bhagvan, ye jeevan, tumhaee na sa.nwaaroge to kya koi sa.nwaare
God!, this life, if You do not adorn who else will be able to keep up

o paalanhaare…

jo suno, to kahe.n, prabhuji humri hai binatee
If You kindly pay heed, then i humbly convey, O God!, I have a plea
dukhi jan ko, dheeraj do, haare nahi.n wo kabhee dukh se
bless sad people with patience so that he never succumb to sorrows
tum nirbal ko rakshaa do, rah paaye nirbal sukh se
provide Your protection to powerless people, so that they may live happily
bhaktee ko shaktee do,
bless your disciple with strength
jag ke jo swaamee ho, itni to araj suno
as You are the ultimate master of the world, please pay heed to this little plea
hai.n path mein a.ndhiyaare, de do vardaan mein ujiyaare
if our pathways are filled with darkness, please grant lights as Your blessings
o paalanhaare, nirgun aur nyaare

O The Divine Nurturer! You are beyond any attribution of traits, You are beyond all
tumre bin humra kauno.n naahee.n

other than You, no one is ours

O saint Khwaja reside in my heart May 18, 2008

This song is dedicated to Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238 – 3 April 1325) also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin, was a famous Sunni Sufi saint of the Chishti Order in India.

Khwaja mere Khwaja – lyrics – English Translation

Khwajaji, khwaja
(O saint khwaja)
Khwajaji, khwaja, khwaja ji
(O saint khwaja) ; (O saint khwaja)
Ya gharib nawaz
(The one who cherishes/soothes the poor)
Ya moinuddin, ya khwaja ji
(O Moinuddin Chisti), (O khwaja saint)
Khwaja mere khwaja
(O saint khwaja)
Dil mein sama ja
(Reside in my heart)
Shaho ka shah tu
(You are the king of kings)
Ali ka dulara
(Ali’s beloved)
Khwaja mere khwaja dil mein sama ja
(O saint khwaja); (Reside in my heart)
Beqaso ki taqdeer, tune hai sawari
(The destiny of the ones in despair, you have changed for the better)
Khwaja mere khwaja
(O saint khwaja)
Tere darbar mein khwaja
(At your door, o khwaja)
Door toh hai dekha
(I’ve seen it from afar)
Sar jhuka te hai auliya
(Your confidents/protectors/confessors bow down to you)
Tu hai Hindalwali khwaja
(You are the hindalwali Khwaja)
Rutba hai pyara
(Your status is glorious/great)
Chahne se tujhko khwaja ji mustafa ko paya
(By wishing/worshipping you Khwaja, I have found Muhammad [the chosen one])
Khwaja mere khwaja
(O saint khwaja)
Dil mein sama ja
(Reside in my heart)
Shaho ka shah tu
(You are the king of kings)
Ali ka dulara
(Ali’s beloved)
Mere peer ka sadka
(The alms of my old age)
Hai mere peer ka sadka
(It is the charity of my old age)
Tera daaman hai thama
(That I have come in your refuge)
Khawajaji
Tali har bala humari
(All my problems/crisis have been averted)
Chaya hai khumar tera
(Your trance is all over me)
Jitna bhi rashk kare beshak
(No matter how much one may envy (rashk) be jealous)
Toh kam hai ae mere khwaja
(Its just too less, o khwaja)
Tere kadmo ko mere rehnuma nahi chodna gawara
(Its not acceptable(gawara) , o my guide(rehnuma), to leave your feet(kadmo)now.)
Khwaja mere khwaja
(O saint khwaja)
Dil mein sama ja
(Reside in my heart)
Shaho ka shah tu
(You are the king of kings)
Ali ka dulara
(Ali’s beloved)
Khwaja mere khwaja dil mein sama ja
(O saint khwaja); (Reside in my heart)
Beqaso ki taqdeer, tune hai sawari
(The destiny of the ones in despair, you have changed for the better)
