CRUCIFIXION OR RESURRECTION? March 23, 2008

resurrection_mel.jpg

What we are celebrating these days? Crucifixion or resurrection?

If we are celebrating the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ this mean that his massage for us is Resurrection not Crucifixion.
Then why the cross is Christian symbol?
For me resurrection means born again. We can be born again only by our Spiritual Self-realization.

  1. axinia Says:

Right, I have been also always wondering why Christian wear that horroble cross…
But finally they celebrate Easter which is resurrection.

  2. Peter Says:

    Axinia,
This is good question. Who decided about the cross?

  3. Joseph Says:

Cross is the altar of God, and Jesus was the sacrificial lamb. Jesus bears cross before he was crucified. In Matthew 16:21-25 Jesus said: If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Each of them has to carry their own cross (shame, burden, persecution) – to be follower of Christ. It is has become symbolic gesture – some people wear cross to show off. That is nothing to do their reality, but suppose for some it is like a testimony (saying they are born again). Jesus died as ransom for the sin of the world, he has done this because no one is perfect (in God standards). Here after 3 days “he raised again himself” that indicates that death cannot hold him. In other words he defeated the death/Satan/sin.

Axinia: 1 Corinthians 1:18 say, For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

  4. Peter Says:

    Joseph,
Does it mean that the message of Jesus is crucifixion, not Resurrection?
    🙂

  5. Joseph Says:

The message of the cross is for the sinner and rememberance of the saved ( good Friday) .

But the message of Resurrection is for the righteous ( Easter): which edifies that Christ is sitting on throne and one day they will be with him – in that resting place ( eternal heaven)

  6. Peter Says:

    John 3
    3. In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

    4. “How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!”

    5. Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

    6. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

    7. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’

    8. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

    JOSEPH, THIS IS RESURRECTION.

  7. Joseph Says:

PETER THIS IS RESURRECTION : “There shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.” (Acts 24:15 KJV) .

Why are you mis interpreting the point , DO YOU think Jesus was a born again – thru resurrection ?

Born again is a second birth while a person is still living in flesh and blood. Nicodemus was saying : how can a person go again into his mothers womb. Well if he becomes new in Christ

A person who is baptized had a simple gesture that he died , was burried in the water and rose as a new person ( as a born again guy) .

Resurrection of Christ assures the believers that ‘ There is life after death and Christ is seated on the throne’ . And Paul said ‘ His message is useless if Christ did not rise again’.

  8. Peter Says:

Paul is the greatest enemy of Christ because he modified his words.

    This is resurrection:
“5. Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Christ speaks about Spirit not about material bodies.

“…and Christ is seated on the throne…”
    🙂
On the Throne are the Father and the Mother.

  9. Joseph Says:

Acts is the Acts of Apostles written by Theophilus ( believed to be Jew Priest) . Now you are denying Paul & .

Dude where did you get the idea that I was speaking only about the material body, I said “simple gesture” , do get what I said ? Am I saying evey baptized guy are going straight to heaven . Always I said – not the deeds but the grace of God that saves a person.

“On the Throne are the Father and the Mother” – Your little faith is helping you to contradict the mysterious works of God

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

  10. dmcal52 Says:

We are celebrating both, for without the shedding of His blood on the cross for us we would have no payment for sin. And just as death could not hold him, because the word of God says “The reward for sin is death” and therefore, where there is no sin death has no power. Since He himself had no sin, death was not able to hold Him and he rose again, which is also our hope according to His promise. As for the wearing of crosses and such, these things are just cosmetic, because it is our faith and our life in Him that matters.
