CAN WE FOLLOW CHRIST? March 18, 2008

Can we fulfill the words Christ?  So far I am not familiar with person who can comply with these words.

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery. 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. –(NKJV)

I am challenged to search my understanding of what Jesus may have meant by ‘removing an eye or hand if it causes us to sin’. At age 71, I haven’t met anyone who has fulfilled it to the letter. I think a clue may be that Jesus sometimes spoke concerning a physical example only, a spiritual example only or a combination of both. For example, he lost most of his followers when he said in John 6:53 (context verses 40-71), ” … Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” The disciples, who were all Jewish, would have nothing to do with cannibalism, so they left. In verses 67-68, “Then said Jesus unto the twelve,’Will you also go away?’ Then Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life.”
Another question is why did Jesus speak in strange sounding parables like these? I like this suggestion which is that he wasn’t trying to hide his meaning, but wanted someone to ask him a question like ,”Could you explain the concept and how can we follow and fulfill your teachings?”
Perhaps Jesus meant for us to cut off the activities of the offending body parts. We can still ask him questions like that in our prayers today.
Our minds are in charge of our thoughts and attitudes which lead us to actions and we are free to choose good or evil.

I started my weblog only two weeks ago, and I didn’t know what side bars or widgets were about. I am amazed at how complex and comprehensive your side bar is, since I began to check it out. It’s a whole new world – like learning a new language – which, they say, helps to maintain memory into old age.
It’s a pleasure and priviledge to discover your weblog and your deep Insights and questions.

It is not easy to follow Christ. He has died and gets resurrected to show us that the body is nothing, but the Spirit is eternal. What does it mean one hand or one eye if we will accumulate more bad karma?

God will forgive us but he will never forget our wrong deeds.
The body of Christ was Pranava, Chaitania, vibrations, cool breeze of The Holly Spirit. People were not ready to understand his words.

    Don’t forget his words:

    Matthew 7:
21″Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the WILL of my FATHER who is in heaven.
22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

If you need some help for your blog, feel free to ask. 🙂

Thanks Peter for your encouraging reply and your offer to help my blogging. I shall call on you as things get more complicated.
I believe you are right that it is not easy, and sometimes painful, to follow Jesus and do his will.
    Best regards, Mervyn

The bible is probably the most misunderstood book in history . It pains my heart when I see those who hunger for truth and sight are led astray by hungry blind religious leaders , pastors , bishops , popes ., etc the whole lot has become a menace to truth , truth which is a prerequisite to one’s liberation .
First let me just say that Jesus was an incarnation of Lord Brahma . You should investigate this , dont believe what I say . Also there is only one religion . If God has a religion its ” LOVE ”
Throw away everything else . God has no chosen tribe or nation , its a false teaching . God does not pray . He loves you as much as you love him . God does not listen to our prayers as we believe he does . Can you imagine him listening to trillions of prayers daily . He uses the law of attraction and karma . God lives inside your body and yet you think he is far away coz all your energy is geared towards material things and lust .

  5. Peter Says:

Jesus was incarnation of Sri Ganesha. In the same way he was created only from The Mother.
